BPF Recycling Group Position Statement on Standards and Codes of Practice

BPF Recycling Group works to ensure recycled materials are not arbitrarily excluded by European Standards or Codes of Practice from applications where recycled materials will perform satisfactorily. The BPF Recycling Group is the industry voice to counter other Industry bodies that have interests in excluding recycled polymers.

The BPF Recycling Group fully supports the suite of CEN Standards for recycled plastics. The following list provides references for these standards which are available from National Standards organisations such as BSI:

  • CEN/TR 15353 Guidelines for the development of standards for recycled plastics
  • EN 15343 Recycling traceability and assessment of conformity
  • EN 15344 Characterisation of Polyethylene (PE) recyclates
  • EN 15344 Characterisation of Polypropylene (PP) recyclates
  • EN 15346 Characterisation of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) recyclates
  • EN 15348 Characterization of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) recyclates
  • EN 15342 Characterization of polystyrene (PS) recyclates
  • EN 15347 Characterisation of waste plastics
  • prCEN/TS 16010 Sampling procedures for testing plastics waste and recyclates
  • prCEN/TS 16011 Sample preparation

Note:The prCEN/TS Technical Specifications are due to be submitted for Formal Vote before the end of 2010 at which point the "pr" prefix will be dropped.
