Operation Clean Sweep - Take the Pledge to Prevent Plastic Resin Loss

Chinaplas 2009 - Show Report
Taking place Between 18-21 May (Guangzhou, China) Chinaplas was the largest plastics event of the year, despite the current economic climate over 70,000 vistitors and nearly 2,000 exhibitors took part in the show.

Horners' Award For Plastics Innovation is Now Open
The Horners Award is an annual award for an imaginative or innovative contribution to the plastics industry. Any outstanding product, machine or process could win the prestigious Horners Award. ECHA Recommends Strict Control For Seven Substances of Very High Concern
The ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) has recommended seven chemical substances of very high concern which should not be used without prior authorisation. These materials include HBCD, DEHP and BBP. To download the report please CLICK HERE

New Department for Business, Innovation and Skills

Following the banking crisis, the ensuing credit crunch and economic downturn, Britain has taken exceptional, active measures to limit the impact and to contain the damage to our economy. Construction: Worst Fall in Output on Record
The construction output figures from ONS covering the first quarter of 2009, which have been released today, highlight the true nature of the construction recession, showing considerable destocking leading to sharp falls in output. To download the report please CLICK HERE

CPA Credit Insurance Questionnaire
The withdrawal of credit insurance has been a major issue across the construction products industry over the last 6 months. Following the announcement in the Budget on 22 April that the government would be introducing a top up scheme the Association arranged a briefing for members with senior BERR officials and one of the actions that was agreed was that we would develop with BERR a questionnaire survey to go to our members. EUPlastvoltage Project Kicks-Off
This month sees the "EUPlastvoltage" research project commence with major national plastics associations taking part in this European-wide research project. The Brussels-based Association 'European Plastics Converters' (EuPC) is co-ordinating the programme. For more info CLICK HERE

Capscrap Project to Reduce In-Process Scrap Reaches First Anniversary
June 2009 sees the end of the first year of an innovative project entitled CAPSCRAP. The project aims to address concerns hindering scrap reuse in major injection moulding sectors such as packaging, PET bottles, and engineering polymer systems such as PEEK and PPSU.  To read more of this article CLICK HERE

Grants available for Fakuma 2009
Fakuma 2009 is the 20th edition of the International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing taking place in Friedrichshafen. The BPF has succesfully applied for the UK T&I grant of £1000 for eligible exhibitors. To find out more information CLICK HERE
