Duty Suspension Scheme
The EU Duty Suspension scheme allows for duty-free imports of components that are not made in the EU. By reducing component costs, the scheme aims to reduce manufacturing costs, so helping EU manufacturers compete more effectively against imports of finished products. If your company is finding it impossible to source EU manufactured components, and are paying more than £20,000 a year in import duty, then they may qualify for this scheme. The BERR deadline for new applications is 15 September 2009 - for which the duty suspension would come into force on 1 July 2010.
