UK T&I supports UK exhibitors on International trade fairs via TAP grants administered by the BPF. The grant limit per company is 6 (starting from 1st April 2009) provided that the company meets the SME* definition and is either 'New to Export'** or have NOT exported for more than last 10 year. 

Mature SME exporters who do not fit within the above criteria i.e. they have been exporting for more than 10 years OR have total exports above 25% of turnover, may still qualify for support if they are seeking to participate in a show where they have not taken part in the previous edition.

*SME -  Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are defined as those matching the requirements at A, B and C below.

a)  Has less than 250 employees.

b)   Has an annual turnover not exceeding € 50m, or an annual balance sheet total not exceeding € 43m.

c)   Is independent, i.e. not more than 25 % of its capital or voting rights are owned by one enterprise

**New Exporter - During the past 12 months less than 10% of turnover resulted from proactive exports(sales to new overseas customers that have been actively identified by business) and no more than 25% of turnover resulted from unplanned approaches from potential overseas customers).
